We should only play games that we could easily lose in the preSEC schedule moving forward. The more loses we have, the better we will be. Who needs to go to the NCAA tournament? I want to be able to count a win if we actually win a game. And even if it is a historically great basketball school that just happens to have an off season, we should fire the coach. He should be able to know if a team will be good or not before putting them on the schedule. There is no excuse for having a poor coach like Mike White.
Let's try to speak truth out of what I can only assume was intended as sarcasm.
That our non-conference was weak is a fact, not an opinion. #337 non-conference strength of schedule per KenPom. Now, notice I didn't place the blame on White for this. It's unfortunate that the few power teams we played turned out to be pretty bad this season. It's also unfortunate we lost to the only good one.
We did also just schedule a home-and-home with UNC. That's a step in the right direction.
But non-conference is not just about winning as many games as you can (competition be damned). That doesn't impress the committee. Florida and Auburn both lost several non-conference games this year, but they did so against elite teams. They are now both safely in the tournament
and playing good basketball. In some ways, competition matters as much as wins and losses early in the season. Running up 120 points on Sisters of the Poor doesn't get you ready for Texas A&M.
Is Mike White a poor coach? Meh. I'm biased. I never liked the hire to begin with. He has some strengths and some glaring weaknesses that seem to pop up every year.
This looks like a team that might make the tournament again as a 9 or 10 seed. Hey, maybe they'll even win a game. If that's good enough for you, fantastic.
But I'll remind you...it's 2026, and Indiana just won a national championship in football. It's beyond fair to expect results at a school like Georgia.
