We are shooting 26% from 3 and 65% from 2.
Yet averaging almost 100 per game.
Crazy anomaly.
If the 3s start to fall I think we have something .

I am aware the competition has been weak but we have depth , size and athleticism.
That's a nice combination

Yeah, it is particularly nice to see us be a team that hopefully will not live and die by the 3. I suppose the question will be how does our speed and quickness compare with other SEC teams? It seems that we are beating these teams so well with our defense and fast breaks. We can run the court well.

We're 344/365 right now in 3-point %. Not close to good enough, and that will cost us games. It's a shame, because I like pretty much everything else I see.

White, in postgame comments, remains confident the shots will start falling. I sure hope he's right...

I am very concerned about our shooting. Yes it is cool that unlike in years prior, we are beating teams of lower competition this year handedly even when we do not shoot the ball well. However I believe this to be due to our style of play and coaching.

I have been to every game this year (it is nice to be a student lol) and I think everyone I have talked to agrees that we all see that this team get downhill quickly and efficiently and has done a good job setting up each other with easy buckets. In 3 games this year we have had more assists than turnovers, one game where we had the same amount, and finally yesterday was the first game where we had more turnovers than assists. In order to win as a P5 team against good competition, you need to consistently be getting at LEAST 10 assists a game, keeping your turnovers BELOW 10 a game, and it goes without saying that if you have more turnovers than assists it is going to be a hard game to win.

So while it is good that we are getting downhill, have better ball movement, and play better team basketball compared to last year, a lot of this is coming from our superior athleticism compared to our competition. As SEC play begins, this advantage will level out and the fast break dunks we are getting and easy blow byes on the perimeter will go away substantially. Once this happens and the court shrinks, we will be FORCED to hit outside shots if we want to open up space in order to be able to attack the rim.

I think we have failed to do that and have showed our hand to be a one trick pony. Assuming that around 35% is the average for D1 CBB across all conferences, we have only one player shooting above league average, which is Justin Bailey, and he is shooting 35.3%.

The reason why I harp on this 35% 3pt shooting so much is in the 2024 season, only 20 of the 68 teams that made March Madness shot below 35% from 3 as a team during the year. Out of those 20, only 2 teams won games, Purdue and NC St, teams that shot 34.8% and 34.6% from three. Then in 2025, only one team won a game in the tournament that shot below 35% from 3, and that was Arkansas who shot 34.8% from 3 on the season and got hot at the right time at the end of the season.

We are currently shooting 26% from 3 on the season as a team. This is awful, and this is against out "buy games". If the shooting on this team does not improve our season will crash and burn.

Also my final note, concerned with Jeremiah Wilkinson's shooting splits. He is good, but has struggled to finish around the rim at times and takes (albeit makes sometimes) some very tough shots. His outside shooting is questionable and he needs some shots to fall. He has shown he is very capable to get downhill and get to the free throw line, but he needs to finish and shoot a little better to be the workhorse for this team.

But Rodney Terry says that Blue Cain is an elite 3 point shooter?

Your post is spot on.....we will get killed in conference play with our current 3 point %.

For decades with UGA Hoops, Athens seems to be where good 3 point shooters come to become poor 3 point shooters. Why?

I watched in person Dalton Knecht walk into the Steg 2 years ago and go for 36 points on 12-20 from the field, and 5-8 from 3, I guess that doesn't apply to those who come to play us, lol.
