Acaden Lewis - 85% sure he will commit

Derron Reid - 10% sure he will commit

Simeon Wilcher - 0% sure he will commit

Jordyn Key - 75% sure he will hit the portal

What I know as of today. If you have any questions these are the only people I know about and can currently talk on so feel free to ask.

Lol as I post this not more than 5 minutes later I open my phone to see a text saying Jordyn Key enters the portal. Not surprised, also makes me think the chance of Acaden Lewis committing is higher than 85%.

Acaden Lewis feels like a must-have right now. Without a true PG, I don't like how this team looks...

I read that he's going on a visit to Miami after this visit?

Any traction on this one or the other one?

Why would Key hit the portal after this long? What is he trying to figure out? Why come to UGA in the first place when he knew he would be asked to redshirt and develop?

I'm curious about Savo. Did we want to keep him? Was it mutual?

What happened with Reid? There was such a confidence and now only 10% certainty?

We had 2 extra scholarships last year. This is why Key and Jaiden Newell got on scholarship.

Key, was a 3 star, based off his raw athleticism and potential to be developed, there are many more 3 stars that would have been more skilled than him but with a lower ceiling. Key also did not really have offers. Those two "FSU and Mizzo" offers were 2 years before he got his UGA offer and most likely no longer offers those schools coaching staffs were extending to him.

It seems like the only other school was Chicago St, one of the worst D1 programs in the country.

I am not trying to dog on him but my point is, we had an extra scholarship and did not want to waste it, and Key wanted to play at a P5 school and develop.

I heard good things about Key in practice and how he had been working, but the reality is he was not a SEC caliber PG/CG. I wish him the best but the reason why it took so long is most likely because CMW did not have it figured out who our next PG would be so why tell the only other PG on the roster to kick rocks, even if he wasn't SEC caliber.

Both parties knew what last season was going to be, and in the long run Key definitely benefited and gets to have 4 years of eligibility left with a year under his belt, and for that I wish him the best as he transfer down to a mid/low major, good kid.

Savo was ehhh. We ****ed him over by burning a year of his eligibility when we really should not have. He has high upside, but I think the coaching staff and partially how bought in (or was not) he was to the program held both parties back. There is a world where his time at UGA could have gone different but that was not the case. Sucks to see him leave because unlike Key, he might actually have the "What if?" question attached to his name because I do see a world where he COULD be good, but he is gone and that is for the best for him.

Jaiden Newell got his scholarship because we had one left over, and we gave him one for Asa for the year. Now that Asa is gone, it seems like we will just let Jaiden finish his senior year on scholarship but it really is just taking up a space, he is not an SEC caliber player.

Everyone was so high on Reid committing here once he hit the portal because of how close we were to getting him in HS, and how his parents eat sleep and breath Georgia, however, I and many others have learned more about his HS recruitment here. I won't speak much on it or speculate on a kid so young when the exact details of the transgression are truly unknown, BUT, basically during the recruitment process of him in HS there was an interaction between the coaching staff and Reid were Reid displayed/discussed certain things that were a major turn off for the staff and ended up driving a divide between both parties. It seems that this divide still lingers in both parties mouth and definitely halted the brakes on this process.

Georgia has then seemed to put Reid on the backburner to focus on getting good PG/Guards, as that is our biggest need for next year, and during this time Reid has been heavily heavily coerced by NC State and Will Wade who really want him and are willing to open the checkbooks.

Nothing is final and I have heard we are not COMPLETELY out of it, but I seem to doubt he will actually come here, and the reality is that is OKAY, lets focus on getting Acaden Lewis and PG depth first.

Also, has Georgia filled the assistant coach role?

Thanks for that explanation Balldawg. How many scholarships do we have left to fill?

Is Lewis ready to be a starting SEC point guard right away like Silas was his freshman year or will he need some time to develop first?
