How long do you want to ignore this user?

I cribbed these stats from another poster on the pay board:

We lost 9/12 to close reg season (22-23).

We lost 10/12 to close reg season (23-24).

We've won 2 of the last 10. The next 2 games are against #1 and #2.

After those games, we finish with 2 of 3 games on the road.

We've not won a road league game since Feb 21, 2024.

I mean FFS.

Buckets, Monk, tell me something, anything that leads me to believe it gets better with White now or ever.

I've got nothing. The only thing playing in our favor right now is an incredibly soft bubble, but even that doesn't matter if we can't win on the road. Florida has a couple guys hurt. That doesn't feel like it matters either.

I'm down hard right now. Given how quiet the board has been, I assume others are too. White is absolutely going to get one more year. Do we believe he can evolve? I don't, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

I thought we had Wilkins and another hot shot recruit onboard for next year. We still need a true point guard, amongst other things too.

Wilkins and Kareem Stagg are both Top 100 forwards. It's a nice class. However, as we've shown time and again this year, having a dominant forward is of little value if you can't get him the ball. Newell (who will be gone) does most of his damage off the offensive glass because our guards aren't able to get the ball to him, either on time or in position.

Because it's 2025, the real question is this: who stays? Our roster has seen massive turnover since the advent of the transfer portal. White can't afford that.

If you want to choose optimism, the following guys stay put:
  • Drezgic
  • Demary, Jr.
  • Cain
  • Montgomery (he needs to grow up, though)
  • James
  • Godfrey
  • Cyril

Add in the two freshman and you have a fairly loaded frontcourt. It's then imperative on White to:
  • Develop Drezgic
  • Get another PG out of the portal
  • Grab two shooters out of the portal

That's a lot, and it's hard to assume it will all happen. Hope and optimism are two different things. I always have hope, but optimism eludes me these days...

what makes you think all those guys stay if we lose 4 of 5 or even worse all 5 and early exit out of the sec tourney ?

It all is very frustrating, especially the February record these 3 years. But some perspective can help. Are we better this year compared to last year? Yes, we are trending upward even with this bad streak. We are also one of the youngest teams in the league. If CMW is able to keep the majority of the underclassmen and develop the young ones, there is potential with the way he recruits. We were never a bubble team the last 2 years. This year we are in the best conference in the history of college basketball.

Nothing. I don't think they will all stay. I laid out what I thought was the best-case scenario for Mike White season 4, but I don't think it will happen that way.

The record is deceiving as the sec schedule is incredibly more challenging this year and than ever before

And most of the W's before 1/1 were vs teams that are as bad or worse than UGA.
It seems that the only thing we know for certain is that this team is notoriously Jekyll & Hyde within each game. Can be really good and then really really bad.
