How would the Dawgs follow up their best offensive performance in years? The Dawgs got a great draw in the ACC/SEC challenge. Notre Dame was on a 4 game losing streak after their top scorer went down with injury. That said, UGA, after a slow start, dominated the 1st half with 10 assists on 15 baskets. The Irish made a run in the second half and drew to within 4, but the Dawgs stayed resolute, defended well and got hot again from the field, winning by 21. After shooting 66.7% against Jacksonville, and 58% from 3, the Dawgs shot only 44% from the field this time and 23% from 3. I think the star of this one was the Dawgs defense, holding ND to only 36.5% from the field. The Dawgs won the rebounding battle 40-27. And, AND 19 assists to only 5 TOs. The Dawgs are developing team chemistry right before our eyes. Asa finished with 20 followed by 16 for Dakota Leffew off the bench. All around very solid effort.... Really good defense effort! Normally, I'm not big on switching, but our switching gave ND fits.

We are in the rare position (for UGA basketball fans) where we can win games against decent teams without our fastball and, as you point out, we can thank the defense for that.

On nights where shots are falling (and we continue to get very good shots), we can compete with almost anyone. I don't know when it's time to be concerned about our shooting - I'm not quite there yet - but the defense will keep us in games while we figure that out.
