Khani Rooths ended up at Louisville, and Dwon Odom is now at Tulsa. A 6'5" forward who played at GA St 2 seasons ago and transferred to SMU has now transferred to Auburn. Ja'heim Hudson - played really well against Auburn 2 years ago for GSU, but he's undersized. He does play hard though.

I'm a big Georgia state fan. Like really big. Went to the games growing up. Hudson was good. Small and up and down, but can play.
I have season tickets for GSU because I want to support Jonas. Hudson did play well; he plays hard; I don't know how that translates to the SEC though.BallDawg said:

Been a big fan since the Devontae white, rj and Ron hunter, Malik benlevi, devin Mitchell, jeff sessions days. Really loved that team and went to most home games. Had season tickets because my buddy's dad was a top professor there
The Serbian PG. Looks like we might put either Asa's brother or Markell Jennings, who I believe is close friends with Silas, on scholarship, and hold onto the last scholarship for next year I guess?
I would hope that is not true. Are those 2 walk-ons worthy of SEC scholarships? Are they better than any of those who transferred out? Can we not find anyone in the portal better than the 2 of them at this point?
Here is the reality. The remaining players left in the portal, the top quality guys, who have not committed to a school, are those guys that are feeling out draft, I believe have until middle of June to decide what route they are taking. If those guys do not go the NBA draft route, most of them have already picked out a suitor for next year. This means that most of their recruiting is done and they are on "no-contact" tags essentially. Think of guys like Jax Robinson from BYU, Coleman Hawkins from Illinois, these are fringe guys who might not want to make the draft leap this year, and return to college for another. I think we would see Jax follow Pope to Kentucky, and saw Hawkins to UNC is a close deal, but these players are not actively on the market looking to be shopped out. So where does this put UGA? Besides MAYBE Wooga Poplar, and I am almost certain we have no play in that, we are not contacting any of these bigger names in the portal. So the options left are to recycle a end of the bench guy from a P5, think of Frank if he were to transfer to like Georgia Tech, we could push late for a HS kid (which we are, the Serbian PG), we could take a chance on a mid major kid (as we know mike white has shown an affinity to do so), or you can put a walk-on on scholarship. With 3 scholarships left, I say we give one to the Serbian PG, and with two left, this late, with what little lead I am hearing on any of the options above for scholarship level players either from HS or college, unless we really really take a reach on a kid who has proven little but has "potential", I do not see the issue with us putting a walk-on on scholarship. I think markel, who is close with silas, would keep silas happy and in athens, or for Asa, his older brother is clearly very important to him, and would be something I see that Mike white and the Newell family agreed to behind closed doors to sweeten the pot for Asa to come here. Obviously putting a walk-on on scholarship does not make us a more talented roster, doesn't tip the scale, but the important of walk-ons should not be understated. They are a huge part of the team, for moral, practices, closeness, leadership, etc. It can be up to the coach but during his entire career Mike White has been a huge fan of walk-ons and the value they bring, and because of this, I totally see him putting one of the previous two mentioned players on scholarship. With all this being said, we have one scholarship left, and I would like to imagine we honestly just hold onto it for it to roll over into next year, and with whatever assistant coach we hire, especially the one from Combine Academy, we instantly go heavy on a CO'2025 player early in his senior year with the help of their former HS coach, as Combine is known for producing high level D1 talent (Silas). Overall, while every coach and program wants to have every scholarship taken by an impact player, the reality of the college basketball landscape is that this cannot always be the case, and I am okay with that. CMW has still constructed a roster that can compete and work around its holes, even if we do not use every single scholarship on an impact player.
The Serbian kid would be a reclassify. I have often seen that reclassifying means they don't commit until they are sure about the reclassification, which can run into the summer.DenmarkDane said:

I heard White this morning say that he likes what he has - the most athletic frontcourt at UGA in a long time and the most athletic he will have ever coached. That said, he felt like we could fill 1 more scholarship. Now, he mentioned filling it with a forward - I assume a SF, because we only have one on the roster, and he's more of a PF really, only smaller. I'm not sure where this leaves Drezgic. White may not feel he can comment on a reclassification.
