"We're trying to play very, very fast." That's music to my ears and marks a return to White's roots at La Tech. He never played at the tempo I saw at La Tech when he was at UF. To play fast, you have to use pressure defense to create TOs and easy offensive chances. You also have to use your depth to stay fresh. You also have to rebound well to get out on the break. And you can't turn the ball over excessively, which results in fewer possessions and empty possessions. Despite our defensive problems, shooting issues, rebounding nightmares and lack of depth last year, we still played at the 3rd fastest tempo in the SEC. If we can improve those areas, even incrementally, we should be able to play faster. I see no reason why Tchewa and Deloach won't help on the glass; we are deeper and more experienced; we should be able to extend our defense and create TOs; and shooting just has to be better than it was. It would be hard to shoot worse than last year. Hill doesn't it over much, and we hear great things about Demary. The experience we brought in through the portal should help cut down TOs. All in all, the recipe is there for faster play.
