I'm curious if those who have purchased season tickets have received their seat selection appointment times yet. I have not, but I won't panic if no one else has either.
Nice! I'm human trash, so mine is on Friday.Chuckwagon said:
We have our appt at 10 on Wednesday Morning.
I know. I had 9 years of tickets...one short of what I needed to move up a group. I also could have dropped a $40k "donation," but...I did not.Chuckwagon said:

I had season tickets under Durham and Harrick, gave them up after what Adams/Dooley did to blow up the program 20 years ago, got them again when Fox was hired and have been sitting on the 4th row behind the UGA bench for years. But I've only had season tickets, by UGA's count, for 13 years (2020 doesn't count because of COVID - not even the donation counts for that year - and this year doesn't count). The totally arbitrary cut-off was 15 years to be in group 2 or 3, IIRC. So, I'm relegated to picking on Friday, and all the decent seats will be long gone. I may just have to give up my tickets and just watch the games on TV. Yeah, I'm ticked off....StevieBuckets said:I know. I had 9 years of tickets...one short of what I needed to move up a group. As long as the folks buying the good seats COME TO THE GAMES I can live with it. But yeah, I'm not coming out on top this round.
As of this morning, there are no good lower bowl tickets left, and the decent upper are already filling up (I tried, and failed, to post a screenshot).Dawg44 said:
There will be some lower bowl seats left, but none that you would want for season tickets. They will refund your money for season tickets. You just won't get your donation back.
I went from section D, 4 rows behind the men's bench to the last row of section A behind the basket and under the new video board. They were the last 2 seats in the lower level not in the horseshoe. I was not gonna sit in the horseshoe or the upper level (all the good upper level, middle of the court seats were taken anyway). Really disappointed in how this played out, but I knew it would when it was announced....StevieBuckets said:
From section J, row 2 to section UU, row 10. Just terrible.
I will write the most pointless email in the history of emails to the Georgia Bulldog Club and then I'll try to move on with my life...
You will be shocked to learn that I have not heard back.Quote:
This will be my tenth season as a UGA basketball season ticket holder - you may not count the COVID season, but I gave you money, and you gave me tickets, so I do - and I hope you'll accept my feedback regarding the reseating process that just took place. In short, I am incredibly disappointed.
I wasn't at first, of course. I was excited. I like the reconfiguration of the arena, and I was optimistic that my 9 years of service would perhaps have moved me up the list, if ever so slightly. I have been seated in section J, row 2, seats 5 and 6 for 9 seasons. I have attended every single game I've been available to attend (driving 3 hours round-trip each time). Anytime I could not attend, I attempted to find UGA fans to fill my seats, only using second-hand markets as a last resort. I believe my scan history would reflect all of this.
I have always been in my seat at tipoff. I have been loud. I have supported the team despite what has been, to put it kindly, a lackluster decade featuring:Today, I was rewarded for that loyalty by being sent to the rafters. My new home is section UU. This is so, so discouraging.
- 0 NCAA tournament wins
- 0 SEC championship appearances
- 2 winning records in conference play
- 2 seasons with 2 or less conference wins
I could plead ignorance, but I know at least some of the people who were suddenly more important than me: football donors. It is all about the money, so I guess I can't fault you for valuing them over me, even though they've shown little interest in basketball up to this point. Unfortunately, this decision is going to immediately impact any home court advantage Georgia hoped to gain from this reseating. These new "fans" will attend a few games a year when it's convenient, and they will attempt to resell the rest on the secondary market. This will put opponent fans in our best seats. Need proof? These tickets are already appearing for resale.
Meanwhile, those of us who've shown our loyalty via our attendance and support - but apparently not enough via our wallets - will be in the upper deck, staring down at empty seats or, worse, opposing fans.
I am not one who likes to complain without proposing a solution, but I'm afraid I don't have one. The seats are gone. Many are already for sale. Several basketball loyalists I've talked to are incredibly hurt, and I hope you'll hear from some of them too. I suppose I'll ask you for two things:
[ol]Will you monitor scan rates and resell rates in the premium seating areas? I want to be wrong here. I want these fans who jumped to the front of the line to be in their seats and loud every game. But if they're not, I hope you'll be able to make the tough decisions required to put real basketball fans in those seats. Will you be transparent and help me understand how I was such a low priority in the seat selection process? I knew I was going to be group 5, but in talking to a friend of mine who had 1) three less seasons and 2) significantly less in donations, I selected after him as well. Given the seat map when I made my choice, I must have been near the end of the list. I just don't understand. [/ol]I'm still processing all of this, but if I hadn't already made a (significant for me) donation, I'd probably request a refund on my ticket purchase. I am strongly leaning towards bowing out entirely next year. Why? Because given this experience, I can choose to only buy in years where we may have a decent team, and I won't be any worse off. I'm already in the cheap seats.
Against all logic, I love UGA basketball. I've been a fan since 1999, when I attended my first game as a freshman. I've seen some good, and I've seen way more bad. This process hurt a lot of real fans. I think it probably hurt the program as well.
I hope you'll pass all of the feedback you receive - good and bad - on to Josh Brooks and Coach White. I think it is important that they remain plugged in to the mood of the fanbase.
I'm not even close to the "most tenured fan," nor do I pretend to be. I'm disheartened over my treatment, but even more discouraged that fans like you, who have held tickets far longer than me, have been hurt as badly.Monkdawg said:
Great email! I would have sent something similar, but I couldn't locate Brooks' email address or White's either, for that matter. But as you have discovered, complaints will fall on deaf ears. I heard they lost over 300 season ticketholders over this debacle. They would have lost another with me if I had not gotten the last 2 lower levels seats I would have possibly taken. I was not going from the 4th row behind the bench to the horseshoe or, not offense, the upper level. I have followed UGA basketball since the early 70s. Like you, I don't feel rewarded for my loyalty. I suspect we will see many, many empty seats in the coming year.
