Hope it goes as well as the first, but on the road will be tough. Auburn has been pretty inconsistent this year. They have not been getting good guard play so far most of the season, though their posts have been pretty good. The transfer Broome has been their best scoring post. The little PG Greene is a good driver, but not usually a threat from outside. Former Dawg Johnson has been relegated to the bench and has seen his minutes reduced. Honestly, this is not your typically talent-loaded (at least in recent years) Pearl team, and that exposes his weaknesses as a coach. Nothing Pearl does in terms of strategy and in-game coaching is that impressive normally.

At the risk of being fatalistic, I think this team has reached its peak. Oh, they will for sure win more games but I just don't think the talent is there. What I want to see is if White can coax anything more out of them beyond their capabilities. Hitting 20 wins would be way over achieving IMO. .500 in conference play would be a huge achievement. A win tonight would surprise me, but doable.

Didn't go to this one. My eyes and my feet are thanking me....

I tend to agree with you. Our roster needs a lot of work to make us a contender. We are both offensively and defensively challenged. This team will have to grind for anything it can get. We are getting next to no post play, and our perimeter game is inconsistent. We certainly play harder and with greater emphasis on defense than in the last 4 years, but this roster is not built to be a defensive juggernaut. White and staff have their work cut out for them.

At best I see 2-3 more regular season conference wins for this team.

If White could somehow squeeze out 18 wins total that would be a very impressive feat.

I can't believe there are folks on the pay board already questioning White. He is literally Year One on a roster that won one - ONE - SEC game last year, and is the basketball roster equivalent of the Island of Misfit Toys.

But he and staff have GOT to start recruiting, signing, and retaining HIGH SCHOOL talent.

It is way way too early to be questioning White. Our roster was abysmal when he arrived in Athens. "Island of Misfit Toys" is a great description. LOL I think he's done a helluva job to this point. 18 wins would be miraculous IMHO, but it's possible. But yes, he and the staff have to recruit. We missed on some guys in this class that could have helped a lot. Lindsay leaving didn't help. The 2 guys we have in the 2023 class so far look pretty solid on paper, but we are gonna have to sign more, whether from HS or the portal in this class. I would like to see some recruiting momentum developing. It's been slow so far. I hope by '24 we are able to focus mostly on HS kids. We have to start pulling in top players - particularly from in-state....

I agree. Recruiting the HS kids, pasrticularly in state is going to be the key to success. This is the case for whoever the coach is at UGA (I say this keeping in mind that the transfer portal in today's college basketball arguably lessens the premium on in-state recruiting). I love Mike White as a coach and was very happy with hiring him. But his success will not necessarily be his ability with the Xs and Os but in recruiting. Our State is filthy rich in basketball talent just like football. Auburn recruits GA like they are the in-state school. Bruce Pearl in recent years have stolen away GA talent even though they are not traditionally looked upon as a basketball school. I am bold enough to say that I thought Fox and Felton were good coaches as far as the Xs and Os go, but they just failed to recriut at a high enough level to be successful. Unfortunately, this as been a recurring theme for UGA basketball over many years. I firmly believe that the trick for any BB coach at UGA is going to be how to recruit basketball talent to a school that is a football blue blood.
