I read an article about our OL....they're 3 deep and the Sayler and Trey Hill are listed on the third team. There would have been a time that having a player like Sayler come into the program, would have meant, that he would have immediately had to take a starting spot. I stress the words, 'had to'. No offense to MR, but we just never had this kind of depth. Everyone of these guys are 300+, they look muscular, they look conditioned, our third team looks like they could all start at Vanderbilt and help them become bowl eligible.
We're seeing now how Bama has managed to win all of the games they've won. It's nothing fancy....recruit the heck out of the best OLmen, stock them up, keep rotating them in and by the middle of the 3rd quarter, your just steam rolling the DL of your opponent and when your 4th string RB, like Herrien or Cook comes in with those fresh fast legs, they just make them tired ol worn our DL and LBs look like they are moving in slow motion. Ground and pound them into submission...that's what KS has brought to us.
Again, I liked MR, he was a great guy and good coach, but his idea of an OL was a 'serviceable' one. Get some guys in there that can tangle up a DLman just long enough to let some super stud RB do his thing. It was never about, as Ghenghis Kahn said, 'crush your enemies and see them driven before you...' It's a new attitude, and I like it! I like it a luh!! This team is going to destroy our East brethren this season because they simply are going to turn their front sevens in to astro turf pancake. Even UT and UF don't have the depth to compete. SC has lost some talent on their front seven as well, so it's strength and against weakness with them. And when we face Bama and Auburn...??
