Article's author, Ronald Moody, didn't spend much time researching this piece. For example, he thinks UGA won a national championship in 1982 and Mark Richt was the Dawgs' head coach for 14 years. He also doesn't mention that UGA has narrowed the talent gap (i.e., 3.92 stars per Crimson Tide scholarship player to 3.88 stars per Dawg scholarship player), has a deeper roster (UGA has 84 scholarship players compared to 78 for Bama), and UGA's 2019 recruiting class rating of 94.38 (13 commits), which ranks #1 in FBS, bests Bama's 93.08 (20 commits).

Do you think a Bama homer would EVER begin to say another school is even approaching the talent level of Bama?? NO WAY. The big thing is we have to sustain the success on the field AND actually beat Bama.

Maybe if we would not have had Helen Keller, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Ronnie Milsaps as refs for that NC game last season, or maybe just a bunch of Saban-Gotti worshippers, that game would have went a lot different. Honestly, I don't complain about refs affecting the outcome of games too much, but in that case, there was things so obvious that my wife spotted them and the refs didn't.

So, in my opinion, the Rose Bowl was the real national championship game. This year if we get some competent refs, the game will be a lot different.

I am with you Darin, the refs were horrible but we still should have never lost that game-just so many little things. I do say that ONE call in the game completely shifted it-the "offsides" call on Simmons. Had that not been called, and we took over on their 16 in the third quarter, we run clock and very likely add at least 3 points to our already 13-0 lead. Down the stretch, Bama needed all the time they could get and all the points they could get and I think being up 16-0 probably close to mid third quarter would have made it even tougher for us to lose. Course there were other calls later on but that is really the turning point of the game to me.

While I agree with you guys that the refs didn't help us, I still say we got way to conservative too early and tried to sit on a lead. We resembled the Falcons in the Super Bowl vs. the Pats. Since our offense was not keeping the ball our D got a little gassed.
The Bama homers are just like Fat Phil was/is at Tutorsee. Whenever they lose, they never give credit to the other team, they always blame it on the fact that they didn't execute, played bad, ate some bad shrimp the night before, etc. Heck, for that matter, look no further than some of the recent comments from war eagle-tiger-plainsmen and gaytors. They just can't admit that last year we were just better as evidenced by the fact that we pulled their pants down and spanked them soundly with a barbers strap!
