So you have 22 starters on a football team, they had 14 of 22 drafted?? Looking at players on NFL rosters in 2019, LSU was tied for 4th with 35. UGA had 7 players drafted this year, 29 on NFL rosters last year.

Obviously LSU won a national title this past season and wow, 14 players drafted is really incredible when considering two of their best, in Chase and Stingley were not draft eligible. Also returning for them is NT Shelvin, OLB Clark, FS Stevens, on offense, Marshall at WR and looks like 2-3 OL, also their punter and kicker. So the questions you have to take from this is-

With all this talent on the roster, how did LSU go 5-3 and 10-3 overall in 2018, before winning it all in 2019? Obviously you can say it was Joe Burrow second year at LSU as starter and Joe Brady, that seems to be the major differences. If you look at LSU since they last won a national title, here is their records-

2008 8-5
2009 9-4
2010 11-2
2011 13-1 lost title to Bama
2012 10-3
2013 10-3
2014 8-5
2015 9-3
2016 8-4
2017 9-4
2018 10-3

I guess my point is, this sounds a lot like Mark Richt type seasons at UGA, and look at how much talent LSU produces for the NFL. They have won national titles, 3 since 2000 and lost another, which is what separates them from us obviously-but think how close iwe have been though, we lost one, in 2002 lost one game, in 2018 lost to Bama yet again. But if you look at it, you see that they have won national titles with Les Miles and also Ed O, sorry but in no way do I think those two guys are better coaches than Kirby. I know I am growing tired of saying we will get a title one of these days with Kirby, but I really do believe it will come. We need the QB though, we need that dynamic QB that makes a play in the clutch, that has been the key to Bama winning against us, against Clemson winning their two titles, how LSU won the title last year. You have to have that QB that makes the plays when it counts most. As good as Fromm was, and it is not all his fault, he never could make that play to win it all. The biggest plays of our one playoff win, made my LoCarter blocking the FG and Sony running it in from 25 yards out. He put us in position to win the national title for sure, but he also had some bad plays when we were ahead and ready to put the game on ice as well. Again though, considering how much talent LSU and Bama continue to pump into the NFL (Bama leads the nation with 52 I think players on NFL rosters and had over 10 drafted once again this year), we are winning now and will continue until we break through.

All that being said, with our recruiting classes in the top 5 every year, sooner or later we need to break that school record of 8 players going in a single draft. We had a shot this year, and getting two in the first round is awesome-but then you see the coach that recruited those two now at Arkansas-so some will say it was all Pittman. We need to start sending 10 kids a year to the draft or we will face the-UGA signs the top classes but doesn't get them ready for the NFL.
