ATHENS - Georgia coach Kirby Smart and UGA Football will travel to Texas and Alabama to play Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide and the Longhorns on the road in 2024. The SEC announced conference opponents for all 16 league members Wednesday night.
What we don’t know is when Georgia will travel to Alabama and Texas - although some weekends are already filled with contracted games.

Those two games highlight a blockbuster schedule that includes traditional rivalries with Georgia Tech, Auburn and the Gators as well as a the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game against the Clemson Tigers.
The schedule, which is considered a one-off item by the SEC as the league ponders the future with a nine-game schedule rather than the last three decades of divisional play that set up games like Georgia-Tennessee, Georgia-Missouri and Georgia-South Carolina, which had not been played in league play yearly up to that point.
But the SEC’s new TV contract with Disney has changed things. Divisions in the SEC are gone. Now spotlight games, like the Dawgs’ road games at Alabama and Texas as well as the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry and the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, will take the place of other games that don’t pull the attention of college football audiences.

Alabama and the Bulldogs are the second most-watched matchup in terms of total viewers in the last 11 years of college football - trailing only Ohio State-Michigan, which is played yearly. The Bulldogs and Tide have only met seven times in the last 11 years. That fact, coupled with the SEC dropping divisions, is likely the explanation for the matchup between the two programs. Bama and the Dawgs have claimed four of the last six national titles, and all but two SEC Championship since 2012 (Auburn, 2013; LSU, 2019).
The Bulldogs have won two of the last three games in Tuscaloosa.
The Bulldogs are also set to host Tennessee Tech and Massachusetts. Georgia’s annual rivalry with Georgia Tech is slated for the final game of the season on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
