ATHENS - One of the South’s top defensive backs has committed to play for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Yes, you heard that correctly.

The Dawgs finally land their first defensive back commitment in the 2027 class and it’s a big one in four-star safety Adryan Cole‍.

The playmaking in-state defender from Atlanta chose the in-state Bulldogs on Friday evening over Florida, Auburn, among others.

Why did Cole choose Georgia?

“The overall message from Coach Smart and his staff was that they really want me at Georgia. They made it clear how much of a priority I am for them and how they see me fitting into the program.”

“What made Georgia special to me was the culture and the people. The official visit in mid-June was great from start to finish. Being around the coaches, players, and staff showed me how connected everyone is and the standard they hold themselves to every day. Athens was a great experience, and getting to see everything firsthand definitely left a strong impression on me.”

What will Cole bring to Athens?

Toughness, above-average athleticism, and productivity in the secondary.

On tape it’s clear the 6-foot-1 190-pounder plays hard, shows good instincts in coverage, and is fundamentally sound with his footwork, change of direction, and ability to wrap up the ball-carrier consistently.

Playing against quality competition on a weekly basis, Cole showed that he’s more than just a run-stopping defensive back. He does play hard and has a nose for the ball, but he’s also sound in coverage, showing he can make plays in both zone and single coverage.

Cole was a long-time Georgia target who liked the Gators a lot, but in the end, the opportunity to play for the in-state Bulldogs was an opportunity he wasn’t passing up.

As a junior for Douglas County, Cole made 69 tackles, two TFLs, one INT and several more pass-breakups. He’s currently ranked as the No. 12 safety prospect and the No. 158 overall prospect in the 2027 class.
