ATHENS - It’s an important upcoming season for Georgia Bulldog assistant James Coley.
The Dawgs are looking for more playmakers to step up at wide receiver and Coley is hoping his group will rise to the occasion. The Bulldogs have several young receivers hungry to see the field this fall with two impressive wideouts on the commit list in the 2027 class.
Four-star Jamir Dean and three-star Taurean Rawlins.
Dean, a Tennessee native, flipped to Georgia from Penn State back in mid-June after earning an offer from the Dawgs in early May.
On tape it’s easy to see why the Bulldogs pushed hard for a flip. The four-star prospect brings good size at 6-foot-1 175-pounds with strong hands and natural big-play ability.
Dean has enough speed to stretch the field vertically, but he also showed last fall that he’s a precise route-runner who can get open on his own and pick up yards after the catch. He can adjust to poorly-thrown passes, tracks the ball well down the field, and can get open consistently in short-yardage situations. His quick feet allow him to change directions on a dime and create separation with ease. His 10.7 100-meter speed also showed why he’s one of the fastest and most explosive receivers in the state for his class.
One of the more productive wideouts in Tennessee last fall, Dean caught 53 passes for 1,141 yards and 16 touchdowns, leading his Alcoa team to another state championship.
The multi-sport standout is currently ranked as the No. 24 WR prospect and the No. 165 overall prospect in the nation.

According to FanDuel, the Michigan State Spartans have +2200 odds of winning the national championship next season.
Then there’s in-state wideout Taurean Rawlins. An early target for James Coley in the 2027 class, Rawlins was incredibly productive last fall for Mount Vernon as he caught 67 passes for just under 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns. Rawlins committed to Georgia publicly at the end of May, giving Coley and the Dawgs another explosive weapon who can stretch the field and help in the screen game.
“Once he gets on a football field he is all business”, Mount Vernon head coach Terrence Edwards told Dawg Post. “As a player he's a sponge. He loves asking me about the position, things that I see that he could continue to get better at. So I like a kid that's still willing to learn and try to get better each and every day. He has the ability to take the top off. Most schools, especially Georgia, want a bigger X, but he also has the flexibility to go inside because it's his football IQ and understanding of the whole concept of a play. He understands man and zone coverage because that's what we're teaching here.”
Not only is he one of the fastest receivers in Georgia, but the 5-foot-11 170-pounder also shows terrific hands and the ability to make a tough catch in traffic. He’s a crafty runner who can explode down the field and can score on any particular play. Rawlins was tough to stop last year and should put up giant numbers again as a senior in 2026.
Rawlins is ranked as the No. 67 WR prospect and the No.498 overall prospect in the country.
