BREAKING: Kirby Smart, UGA Football Land 2027 QB
ATHENS - Kirby Smart and Mike Bobo have finally found their quarterback in the 2027 class.
That would be four-star Colton Nussmeier.
One of the top overall quarterbacks in Texas, Nussmeier chose the Bulldogs tonight over Arkansas, Florida, Texas Tech, UCLA, among others.
After missing out on Peter Bourque earlier this summer, the Dawgs bounced back in a big way landing Nussmeier, the son of New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and brother of former LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier.
The 6’4 210-pounder is an above-average athlete with natural arm talent and the ability to throw on the run. He can create time in the pocket, shows good mobility, and good ball placement when throwing the ball down the sideline. He throws with timing, he’s accurate, and understands the position.
He’s a top-20 QB prospect in the nation and a giant addition for Mike Bobo in this class. The Bulldogs needed to bring in a dependable option in this cycle and today they landed one of the top uncommitted quarterbacks in the 2027 class.
The Bulldogs have been white-hot on the recruiting trail of late, but today’s commitment is certainly one of their biggest.
Playing in just six games last season, Nussmeier threw for just under 1,400 yards and 12 touchdowns, adding over 275 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
The four-star is ranked as the No. 16 QB and the No. 197 overall prospect in the country.
