BREAKING: Playmaking WR Commits To Kirby Smart, UGA Football
ATHENS - The fireworks are starting in Athens, Georgia.
While the baseball team is one win away from the Super Regionals, Kirby Smart is across the street landing commitments.
After a successful official visit this weekend the Bulldogs land a commitment from four-star pass-catcher Taurean Rawlins. The Sandy Springs native at Mount Vernon (GA) was heavily trending Georgia’s way all spring and decided to end his recruitment today, picking the Bulldogs over several other impressive Power Four programs.
One of the fastest receivers in Georgia, Rawlins earned an offer from Georgia in late January and climbed James Coley’s board quickly.
“What stands out the most about coach Coley is how genuine he seems. When we speak it doesn’t always have be about football. He said their plan for me was to play me at the “Z” position for them.”
At 6-foot-0 175-pounds, Rawlins was tough to stop all season long in 2025, catching 67 passes for just under 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging about 21 yards per catch. He’s a big-play machine due to his breakaway speed and ability to elude defenders after the catch. He’s quick, twitchy, and shows strong hands when securing the football. He can score from anywhere on the field and proved it over and over again last season as a junior.
In 11 games last fall, Rawlins hit the 100-yard mark in 10 of them, with 98 yards coming in the other game. He also scored at least one touchdown in 10 of his 11 games last season. His most productive game came against BEST Academy where he caught six passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns.
Rawlins is currently ranked as the No. 62 WR prospect in the country for the 2027 class and gives Georgia their first 2027 WR commitment.
