ATHENS - With spring practice over in Athens, it’s now recruiting season for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

The staff will be on the road checking on some top targets and commitments as high school spring practices start up across the country.

On Monday, Bulldog assistant James Coley made sure to check on an impressive receiver target in the Atlanta area.

That would be Mt. Vernon pass-catcher Taurean Rawlins‍.

The Sandy Springs native earned an offer from the Bulldogs in late January and has steadily climbed their board over time. His head coach is former Bulldog receiver Terrence Edwards, and it’s clear Rawlins knows he’s an important target for the Bulldogs moving forward.

According to FanDuel, the Chicago Bears have +310 odds of winning the NFC North next season.

“What stands out the most about coach Coley is how genuine he seems. When we speak it doesn’t always have to be about football. He said their plan for me was to play me at the “Z” position for them.”

On film it’s easy to see why the Georgia staff is high on the three-star wideout. At 6-foot-0 175-pounds, Rawlins was tough to stop all season long in 2025, catching 67 passes for just under 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging about 21 yards per catch. He’s a big-play machine due to his breakaway speed and ability to elude defenders after the catch. He’s quick, twitchy, and shows strong hands when securing the football. He can score from anywhere on the field and proved it over and over again last season as a junior.

In 11 games last fall, Rawlins hit the 100-yard mark in 10 of them, with 98 yards coming in the other game. He also scored at least one touchdown in 10 of his 11 games last season. His most productive game came against BEST Academy where he caught six passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns.

Rawlins is currently ranked as the No. 62 WR prospect in the country for the 2027 class.
