UGA Football Adds 4th Defensive Back of Transfer Cycle - Oklahoma DB Gentry Williams
ATHENS - UGA Football’s Kirby Smart continued to add to the Bulldogs’ 2026 roster through the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Former Oklahoma DB Gentry Williams picked the Bulldogs on Tuesday - giving the Dawgs their 7th transfer of the portal season and the program’s fourth defensive back this cycle.
A Tulsa native, Williams has played in 30 games for the Sooners with ten starts, all of which game in 2023. He spent 2024 out after a season-ending injury. His 2025 season ended in week eight after going under season-ending shoulder surgery.
2026 will be Williams’ final season of eligibility. He was a four-star prospect in 2022 and considered the No. 1 overall prospect in Oklahoma that cycle.
The Bulldogs have been active in the Transfer Portal this cycle for players in the secondary. Williams is the fourth defensive back Kirby’s program has added this January. The close of the NCAA Transfer Portal is this Friday.
Williams will have a chance to play his old team on September 26 when the Sooners visit Athens for the first time as members of the Southeastern Conference.
