ATHENS - Thursday’s UGA Football practce resulted in an injury that will mean missed time for one important Bulldog.

Talyn Taylor will miss at least the Kentucky game with weekend with what is being described as an “upper-body” injury.

UGA said in a statement that the freshman “sustained an upper-body injury during practice earlier today that will require surgery. At this time, no definitive timetable has been established for his return. He is expected to make a full recovery.”

Taylor was listed as "out" on the SEC-mandated injury report Thursday night. He was not included in the Bulldogs' injury report Wednesday night. The development leaves the Bulldogs down five players for their noon matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats Between the Hedges in Sanford Stadium.

Taylor was unable to pull in what would have been the go-ahead touchdown during Georgia's 24-21 loss to Alabama Saturday night.

Kirby had this to say about Taylor earlier this week: ”He’s a tough, competitive kid. He practices his butt off. People don’t give him enough credit for - he’s changed our punt team in terms of, he’s replaced an Arian and a Dom as a gunner and been really elite. Every time we’ve called his number - he’s answered it. He’s going to continue to do that. I mean, the guy’s a worker. I told him: ‘Look, we’re going to come back at you and continue to use you, and just keep getting better.’ That’s all you can do, keep getting better."
