ATHENS - Football is officially back.

Well, high school football is officially back. The 2025 season kicked off in Georgia this week and several top Georgia Bulldog commitments hit the field to start their senior season.

Here are some notes and numbers from week one of the high school football season...

Five-star TE commit Kaiden Prothro‍ and the Bowdon Red Devils team kicked off their 2025 season against a talented Fellowship Christian team. Unfortunately, the Bowdon offense decided to not even use Prothro in the game-plan. The Red Devil offense has some serious issues right now at quarterback and all along the offensive line. They simply could not find a way to get Prothro involved in the offense. He only had two targets all game long and had a handful of tackles on defense. He caught both targets for about 10-12 yards. That was it. Overall, it was a very quiet night for Prothro and the Red Devils who lost the game 26-0.

Down in Moultrie, it was also a tough night form four-star running back commit Jae Lamar‍. The talented Colquitt County back got dinged up in the first quarter with an ankle injury that kept him out for the remainder of the game. He rushed three times for 36 yards and completed one eight-yard pass before the injury. Colquitt County beat Benedictine 27-24.

DON’T FORGET YOUR FANDUEL BETS!!

According to FanDuel, Georgia QB Gunner Stockton has +2500 odds to win the Heisman Trophy next season.

Four-star receiver Craig Dandridge‍ and the Cambridge Bears are in store for a giant 2025 season. The Bears defeated Pope 45-0 and could be tough to beat all year long. Dandridge caught two passes for 64 yards and one touchdown (49 yarder in double coverage). He only played the first half and had just 18 total offensive snaps.

Four-star Brady Marchese‍ and the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes are also bound for a successful 2025 season. The playmaking receiver caught four passes during their 44-0 win over Campbell for 28 yards. He also had two pass-interference calls on him and was “double covered all night”.

Four-star safety Tyriq Green‍ did a little bit of everything for the Buford Wolves during their big 20-13 win over Milton. Green was an effective runner on offense who scored Buford’s first touchdown of the game. He also flew around on defense and made several key tackles on that side of the ball. He plays fast, he’s aggressive, and brings an intimidating presence on defense. He’s one of the top overall athletes in Georgia and proved it in week one.

Four-star safety Jordan Smith‍ made his presence known from the opening kick to start his senior season. The dynamic Houston County (GA) defender took the opening kickoff 96-yards back for a touchdown to give the Bears an early 7-0 lead over Brookwood. They would go on to win31-24. Smith was a dependable weapon defensively with several tackles including his big return touchdown.

Four-star receiver Ryan Mosley‍ was a big reason why the Carrollton Trojans won a 48-21 game over Woodward Academy on Friday night. The dynamic two-way prospect caught three passes on offense for 93 yards and one touchdown.

Three-star DL commit Corey Howard‍ had a big week one for Valdosta, making four tackles, two TFLs and two sacks during the Wildcat’s 63-19 win over Tucker.
