UGA Football coach Kirby Smart Look-alike, Super Bowl Champ Jon Gruden Jacked About Dawgs
ATHENS - UGA Football’s equipment crew made Super Bowl-winning coach Jon Gruden’s day.
Jon Gruden happily opened a box from UGA Football’s equipment crew while he rambled on about how many great players have gone to Georgia under Kirby Smart - and before.
“I remember when Vince Dooley was the head coach,” Gruden said as he inelegantly opened the package with a box cutter. “You want to talk about running backs? The University of Georgia. Herschel Walker. Try Todd Gurley. Try Garrison Hearst. How about Tim Worley? How about Rodney Hampton? The list goes on and on. Do you like Terrell Davis by the way?”
Davis was named Super Bowl MVP of Super Bowl XXXII after the Denver Broncos beat the Green Bay Packers. Davis was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
“How about Nick Chubb?” Gruden inquired before adding: “If you are a young running back where would you want to go to college? D’Andre Swift. Lars Tate. The Georgia Bulldogs.”
Gruden inspected the gear from Athens with glee.

“You just have the SEC logo and the Georgia emblem,” Gruden said with a smile of one of the garments he was holding up. “That just like: ‘We will kick your ass. We are Georgia.”
Gruden then turned his attention to former UGA football quarterbacks.
“This is where Matthew Stafford went to college,” Grunden said of the Super Bowl-winning signal caller. “The reason why I wore No. 10 was because I wanted to be Fran Tarkenton, and that’s where Fran Tarkenton went.”
Gruden wasn’t done with his list of Georgia players…
“When you talk about defense - Champ Bailey. Thomas “freaking” Davis. Jalen Carter. Roquan Smith. Richard “freaking” Seymour,” Gruden added.
But perhaps Gruden’s favorite former UGA player of the moment is a former tight end that plays for one of his former teams.
“How about Brock Bowers, man?” Gruden screamed.
“But do you know the baddest Georgia Bulldog player of all time in my opinion?” Gruden asked. “It would be Hines Ward. He would run around the corner - BOOM. He would knock you out.”
Then a wardrobe change, and Gruden had one last thing to say.
“This is great gear. I look just like Kirby Smart!”
