ATHENS - UGA Football will be represented in the Super Bowl once again.

For the 24th consecutive season a Georgia Bulldog will play in the Super Bowl - an amazing steak that is tied for the longest in college football.

Kelee Ringo, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, Lewis Cine and Nakobe Dean will all represent the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Dean is on the Eagles’ injured reserve list after suffering a knee injury during Philadelphia’s Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers.

That group formed the core of Kirby Smart’s 2021 national championship team that topped Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide 33-18 in Indianapolis. Ringo made his famous pick six in the closing moments of that contest - sending the Bulldogs to their first national title since 1980.

Carter has 24 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2024. Ringo has seven total tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and has played 121 defensive snaps in 2024. Smith has played on 85% of the Eagles’ downs in the playoffs - up from 52% during the season. Smith has ten tackles, and three sacks in the 2024 playoffs so far. He has also forced a fumble.

Before the injury, Dean had a career-high 128 tackles, nine for loss, three sacks, 19 QB hits and pressures, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, and an interception in 2024. His start against the Packers was his first career playoff start. He had six tackles in that win.

"Nakobe's had a great year. As you guys saw the reports, he's going to be out and we sure will miss him,” Eagles’ coach Nick Sirianni told reporters of Dean’s injury. “He's made big plays all year long. The one that comes to everyone's mind is going to be the interception against Jacksonville to seal the game, but he had a couple plays in yesterday's game that are just outstanding that set the tone of how physical we were going to play.”

The Eagles will face Kansas City, which is trying to win its third Super Bowl in a row, which has never been done. According to BETMGM, Kansas City is a narrow 1.5-point favorite to win Super Bowl LIX.

Kansas City WR Mecole Hardman has been on the roster for all three of the Chiefs' Super Bowl wins, but will be out with an injury. Hardman scored the game-winning touchdown on a pass from QB Patrick Mahomes in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII to secure the Chiefs back-to-back Super Bowl victories.

Malik Herring is in his fourth season with the Chiefs and has five solo tackles this season.
