ATHENS - The 2024 season is on the line for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs as they prepare to take on the Tennessee Volunteers.

Here are some quick news and notes about the Tennessee Vols...
Georgia owns 28-23-2 edge in the series history with the Volunteers. Lately, it’s the Bulldogs with the upperhand as they are 7-1 against UT under Kirby Smart including winning the past seven meetings. The seven-game winning streak is the longest streak for the Bulldogs in the series which dates to 1899.

Who are the Vols?

The Tennessee Volunteers, led by fourth-year head coach Josh Heupel and first-year starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava, are 8-1 with their biggest win coming against Alabama 24-17 in Knoxville. The Vols also have conference wins over Oklahoma, Florida, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.

Their lone loss came on the road against Arkansas when they fell to the Razorbacks, 19-14.

The Tennessee offense has struggled of late, scoring 30 points just once over their last six games. They’re strong defensively, having held every opponent this season to less than 20 points. They’re 5th in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 12.5 points per game.

Iamaleava, who is dealing with an upper-body injury, has thrown for 1,879 yards this season with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. He’s also rushed for 215 yards and one more touchdown.

The Volunteers have had success on the ground this season thanks to running back Dylan Sampson who has rushed for 1,129 yards and 20 touchdowns.
