Top UGA Commit John Emery Decommits from UGA
Georgia lost the commitment of a top-level running back on Thursday.
John Emery, one of the top running backs in the country, is no longer committed to the Bulldogs. His mother confirmed the news to Dawg Post. Emery has since tweeted the news.
“This is one of the toughest decisions I’ve made in my life,” Emery said. “I know it will only get tougher. This recruiting process has taught me patience; even though something seems right, and in fact it may be right, it is always better to be careful, and time is a subset of being careful. I am decommitting from UGA at this time.”
The news comes after the Bulldogs’ lopsided loss at LSU, which is only an hour from Emery’s high school in suburban New Orleans. The Tigers have been heavily pursuing Emery for some time. The move pushes the Bulldogs back to 16 commitments right now.
The loss of high-level players like Emery and 5-star WR Jadon Haselwood leaves the Bulldogs with work to do as fewer than eight weeks remain until December’s National Signing Day.
