DALLAS  - If you’re Carson Beck, you can’t wait for the 2024 football season to start.

Beck, arguably the nation’s top signal-caller heading into the season, has an elite offensive line protecting him with weapons all over the place.

One of those weapons is Florida Gator running back transfer Trevor Ettiene, one of the best running backs in the SEC.

The speedy 5-foot-9 205-pounder is coming off a strong 2023 season for the Gators where he ran for 753 yards and 8 touchdowns. He brings an impressive combination of power and speed to the Bulldog backfield, and many expect him to be Georgia’s leading rusher in 2024.

Expectations are high, and Beck gave high praise to Ettiene on Tuesday during Georgia’s session of SEC Media Days.

“With Kendall (Milton) and Daijun (Edwards) both going to the NFL, being able to pick him up in the transfer portal was big. He’s a talented back who is going to make a huge impact. Obviously we’ve only been able to see him this spring but he brings a lot to the table and I’m excited to see what he’s able to do.”

His ability to make a safety miss and be able to take it all the way to the end-zone is huge”, Beck added. “It makes our drives shorter when you have that type of big play ability, along with his ability to help us out of the backfield as a receiver. I can check it down and know he can go get us 10 or 15 yards.

Starting offensive lineman Tate Ratledge also had some praise for Ettiene earlier this year during spring practices...

“He’s meshed really well with everybody; he came in and has a great personality. He’s really gotten along well with everybody, and we’ve really brought him into our family.

Of course, Kirby Smart spoke about Ettiene during the spring as well...

On Trevor Etienne's development...

"Running back is one of the positions that you can pick up really quickly. There are similarities between our offense and (Florida). A lot of the same runs, a lot of the same words in some cases. He has not struggled to transition in that part. Getting comfortable in the offense, there are nuances. I have met with him about it. There are differences in the way we do things offensively that he is picking up on. He is very bright. That is not going to be a problem for him. There have been some mistakes and things, but nothing that can't be corrected. In terms of his efforts and practice habits, we have encouraged him to give great effort. He’s a sponge. He has absorbed that. He has enjoyed getting pushed. He is enjoying the competition of that room because there are guys he is competing with within that room. I am very pleased with where he is and hope that he will continue the trajectory he is on."
