ATHENS - Five-star Warner Robins prospect Isaiah Gibson followed through on Kirby Smart's demands.
Kirby recently told Gibson not to "call me unless you’re ready to commit" - a conversation that was captured on social media. Gibson followed through - picking the Bulldogs over USC and Ohio State. The move is a big win for Kirby and the Dawgs.
Perhaps if you listen closely, you can hear Kirby laughing at Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans. That’s because (as expected) the five-star picked the Dawgs on Sunday even though he had previously committed to the Trojans. He had also recently visited and considered Ohio State.
Dawg Post has reported all year long that the Bulldogs were in an excellent position to land Gibson, even when the five-star committed to the Trojans back on March 24th.
Gibson was a top priority for Smart and his staff, and today they landed his commitment, giving Georgia another dominant defender who can hold his own against the run and attack the quarterback against the pass.
The Georgia staff wanted to load up with elite defenders, and they have one of the nation’s best now publicly on the commit list.

Why did Gibson commit to Georgia?
“At Georgia, it feels like everything has to be perfect”, Gibson told Dawg Post. “But that’s how it should be everywhere. The school is amazing to me. They’re in the SEC, which in my mind is the Jr. league of the NFL. I just love everything about the coaching staff.”
“Coach Diribe is a high-energy guy”, Gibson added. “He has a great love for his family. We talk about a lot of stuff outside of football. I like Coach Smart’s energy too. He’s always real. He doesn’t change who he is for anyone. I definitely felt like a top priority for them.”

What will Gibson bring to Athens?
Violent hands, an excellent first step, and the ability to run down the quarterback.
A natural pass-rusher who will only get better once he gets to Athens, Gibson is a quarterback’s worst nightmare with his ability to bend, fight off blocks, and deliver a massive hit. He shows strong, active hands who can swat away opposing tackles with ease. He can beat offensive linemen with power, but he also brings excellent speed and high motor off the edge. He can get to the quarterback in several different ways, and that’s a big reason why he’s ranked as one of the top defenders across the country.
Of course, Gibson can play the run, too. He can overpower his opponents due to his lengthy 6-foot-4 260-pound frame and holds the edge well, forcing the running back inside towards other defenders. He’s tough to block, plays with good leverage, and consistently finds his way to the ball.
This big-time 2025 defender made 42 tackles on the season with 12 of them coming behind the line of scrimmage. He also added six sacks and hurried the quarterback 24 times.
Gibson is ranked as the No. 7 prospect in Georgia, the No. 1 EDGE defender, and the No. 27 overall prospect in the country.
