ATHENS - Kirby Smart and UGA football saw a coach they wanted at Georgia Tech and took him.

The Bulldogs’ coaching staff now appears to be settled for the 2024 season with the addition of former Georgia Tech WR coach Josh Crawford, who will take over coaching running backs for the Dawgs.

Crawford spent the 2023 season on the Flats. Prior to that he had extensive experience as an assistant coaching high schools in Georgia. He spent time at GAC, Jefferson County, Colquitt County, Lee County and Valdosta. During those stops he won three state titles.

Crawford has a masters from UGA as well as from Valdosta State. He was a running back at Morehouse prior to graduating from there. Crawford coached receivers at Tech, and at Western Kentucky. He was a co-offensive coordinator for the Hilltoppers as well.

“(Crawford) is also one of college football’s most well-known and respected coaches at any position amongst high school coaches here in the state of Georgia,” Tech coach Brent Key said  after hiring Crawford prior to the 2023 season.

The Bulldogs start spring practice in March. The program will conclude those practices at G Day, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 at Sanford Stadium.
