ATHENS - UGA Football and Kirby Smart are getting set to take on Ole Miss Saturday night on ESPN. On Friday, the Athens Banner-Herald spoke with Brock Bowers’ father about the tight end’s possible return to the field.
It looks like Bowers could be a game-time decision as the No. 1 Bulldogs get set to take on the No. 10 Ole Miss Rebels Satuday night on ESPN.
Bowers playing or not will be “depending upon ankle performance,” his father told the Athens Banner-Herald Friday via text message. In a note to subscribers on Thursday night, Dawg Post said that Bowers “was with the No. 1 offense today in a regular jersey.”

“There is no timeline for return to play,” Warren Bowers told the Athens Banner-Herald. “It all depends on how the ankle is responding. It could be this week. It could be next week. It could be the following week. Or not at all. It all depends.”
Bowers had so-called tight-rope surgery on his ankle two days after injuring it in Nashville during No. 1 UGA’s 37-20 win over Vandy. The Bulldogs played without the California native in wins over the Gators and last week vs. No. 14 Missouri.

UGA football coach Kirby Smart said Tuesday that Bowers had been working hard to get back on the field.
“He's working hard. He's doing all he can in terms of trying to get himself in shape and get better,” Kirby told reporters. “I mean, he's back running now on dry land and we're hoping that he keeps getting better. That's this kind of the MO on this injury, you know, every kid we've had so far that's had it: week one they do this, week two they do this, week three they do that. He's right on schedule for the things he's been doing.”
