ATHENS - No. 1 UGA Football’s 24-14 win over South Carolina was watched by over 5 million viewers on Saturday.
The game between the two SEC foes was the No. 2 college football game of the weekend - behind only ESPN’s presentation of the Deion Sanders-fueled Colorado-Colorado State contest, which was watched by a massive 9.3M on ESPN. Disney said CU-CSU was most-watched late-night college football game ever on ESPN and the fifth-most-watched regular-season game ever on the network for any time slot.
The game is the most-watched on CBS so far this year - outpacing Ohio State's debut on the network against Indiana in week one by 770,000 viewers; and Michigan's matchup with UNLV by 2.5 million.
Saturday’s game on CBS is the third most-watched game in the history of the two teams’ meetings. Back-to-back games in 2013 (7.1M, ESPN) and 2014 (6.8M, CBS) are the highest on record between the two schools.

Georgia-Carolina beat out Tennessee-Florida (5.4M) on ESPN as well as Penn State-Illinois on FOX’s Big Noon time slot. USC-UGA is the No. 6 most-watched game of the early 2023 year. It is the 33rd time a Kirby-led UGA team has played on TV in front of at least 5 million viewers.
Georgia will face UAB on ESPN2 in primetime this weekend. It is only the second time this year the Bulldogs will be in a position to be rated by Neilson. The Dawgs’ nighttime fight with the Blazers will go head to head with Ohio State-Notre Dame (NBC), Texas-Baylor (ABC), Oregon State-Washington State (FOX) and Arkansas-LSU (ESPN).
Still, the placement of the Dawgs on ESPN2 for a game as poor as one against lowly UAB shows how big a draw Georgia is right now.
