ATHENS - Kirby Smart and UGA Football saw multiple commitments shine during the first week of the 2023 high school football season.
Dawg Post was on hand to watch 5-star Dylan Raiola throw two touchdowns while leading Buford to a big 18-0 win over No. 6-ranked St. Frances.
Of course, he wasn’t the only commitment who had a big opening weekend.
4-star WR commit Nitro Tuggle, now playing back in Indiana at NorthWood (IN), had a monster opening game, catching seven passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

On one touchdown reception, Tuggle ran a post route where he shook a defender to the ground and then snagged the ball up in the air in the end-zone. It was an excellent route and an impressive catch in the air.
Tuggle’s second touchdown was a quick reception that he took the distance, changing directions and zig-zagging through the defense all the way to the end-zone.
That’s what makes Tuggle so special. Not only is he an exceptional route runner who can create separation and stop on a dime, but his ability to elude defenders after the catch is incredible. He’s not a small guy at 6-foot-3 185-pounds, but he moves like he’s smaller. He glides when he runs and picks up yards in a hurry. He loves to make defenders look silly in the open field and does it quite often.
The ball skills are easy to see. The catch radius is there. He can create separation on his own. He can beat defenders deep with the ability to help in the screen game as well.
This young man is different. He’s not playing against the best competition this fall, but if you watch his highlights from the season opener, it’s clear he might be the best player on the field all season long.
Look for Tuggle to continue his dominant play throughout the entire 2023 season.
