ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs can’t be surprised with what former offensive lineman Broderick Jones is doing in Pittsburgh Steelers camp.

According to Corey Crisan of DK Pittsburgh Sports, Jones got his very first “first-team” reps last Friday during the Steeler’s second portion of 11-on-11 drills.

“First time working first team during camp which, you know, we just started," Jones told reporters after practice. "I got a couple reps, nothing major, but it’s always good getting in with the guys and getting one percent better every day."

Former Texas A&M Aggie Dan Moore Jr. is the current first-team left tackle in Pittsburgh, but the pressure is on now that the Steelers traded up to select Jones with the 14th overall pick in April’s 2023 NFL Draft.

Jones brings plenty of length and athleticism, so it’s easy to see why he’s starting to get a look with the first-team unit. It’s still early in training camp, but it’s clear Jones is starting to make some noise on the Steeler offensive line.

The pads still haven’t come on yet, but over the next two weeks, Jones has a chance to really push for the starting job and show what he’s capable of. The Steelers drafted him for a reason, and they’re hoping he proves them right with that 14th selection.

The Steeler’s NFL odds to make the NFL Playoffs this year sit at +128 according to FanDuel.
