ATHENS - The rumors are finally true.

Elite Georgia Bulldog QB commit Dylan Raiola is heading to the peach state from Arizona to play with the 7A powerhouse Buford Wolves for his senior season. Of course, Dawg Post members saw this coming weeks ago.

Raiola will play at Georgia in 2024, but now that he’s at Buford, he’ll be able to spend plenty of time in Athens to watch the Bulldogs play this fall.

The Wolves are coming off a disappointing 2022 season, their first in 7A, but are now clear favorites with Raiola at quarterback. Buford already had an incredibly talented roster, including 5-stars Eddrick Houston‍ and KJ Bolden‍, but with Raiola on board, they’ll be tough to beat for anyone in 2023.

Raiola transfers to Buford from Pinnacle High School in Arizona, but played his junior year at Chandler High School where he threw for 2,435 yards and 22 touchdowns. As a sophomore at Burleson (TX), Raiola threw for 3,341 yards and 32 touchdowns.

The Buford Wolves now have two players currently to Kirby Smart and the ‘Dawgs, with Raiola joining 4-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte‍, one of the nation’s top linebackers in the 2025 class.

The Bulldogs are also pushing had for Buford’s 5-star ATH KJ Bolden, 4-star ATH Jordan Allen (2025), 4-star RB Justin Baker (2025), among others.

Not only is this big news for Bryant Appling and his Buford program, but this is big for Kirby Smart as well. Raiola will be less than an hour away from Athens and will be able to help the staff recruit other big-time prospects on the weekends when the Bulldogs play in Athens.

Raiola publicly committed to Georgia back on May 15. Since then the Bulldogs have added commitments in the 2024 class from 4-star TE Jaden Reddell‍, 3-star TE Colton Heinrich‍, 4-star DL Jordan Thomas‍, 4-star DL Justin Greene‍, 4-star RB Chauncey Bowens‍, and three-star punter/kicker, Drew Miller‍.

Raiola is one of two quarterbacks committed to Georgia, with the other being 4-star Ryan Puglisi‍.

Raiola has been compared to Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes led Kansas City to a Super Bowl last year, and has the Chiefs at +600 odds to repeat as NFL Champions in 2023 according to FanDuel.

As for Raiola, he’s ranked in the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 1 overall prospect in the country for the 2024 class.
