Kirby: You hate to see Cleveland's Injury
ATHENS - Georgia’s list of injured players is getting rather long.
UGA coach Kirby Smart updated reporters at his weekly news conference on Monday. Kirby said that Ben Cleveland is out with a left fibula fracture. UGA LB Monty Rice (MCL) and UGA OL Andrew Thomas are expected to play this weekend. Thomas (ankle) is expected to practice Monday. It is unclear when Tyler Simmons will return (shoulder). Jackson Harris (foot) is expected to play this week against the Vols.
The No. 2 Bulldogs beat Missouri 43-29 on Saturday in a sluggish effort. Both Cleveland and Thomas left the game with their injuries. Harris and Rice didn’t travel for the game.
Kirby said that filling in for Cleveland will be something that happens this week in practice.
“We are going to evaluate that group,” he said about the right guard spot. “I thought that Ben Cleveland was playing really well - playing fast and comfortable. You hate to see that."
Kirby didn't say how many weeks Cleveland would likley miss recovering from the injury.
