ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs RB Kenny McIntosh was picked No. 237 overall by the Seahawks 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City. Kirby Smart sends another running back to the NFL after having two drafted last year in Zamir White and James Cook.
At the NFL Combine, McIntosh ran a 4.62 40-yard dash and measured in at 6’0” and 204 lbs.
His numbers were not all that impressive to scouts, which is part of why he is not considered as one of the top running backs in this class. Unfortunately for him, this was a loaded running back class in the eyes of many experts and gurus.
McIntosh was a four-year back for the Bulldogs, and finally got his turn to start as a senior in 2022. He earned his place as a member of Georgia’s prolific “RBU” fraternity by amassing 1,333 scrimmage yards and 12 total touchdowns. Not to mention, he was a member of the back-to-back national championship run.
Throughout his first three seasons in Athens, he had to sit behind guys like D’Andre Swift, Zamir White and James Cook, so he played more of a reserve role. He still managed to get his snaps and eventually got his turn as being the primary back, and not losing a game with that title.
At the end of the day, McIntosh is arguably the best receiving back Georgia has ever had. His fluidity in the passing game and sure hands earned him plays that were designed to use those advantages. He had over 100 receiving yards in the season opening beatdown of the Oregon Ducks.
Coach Smart gave him a personal shoutout at Georgia’s national championship celebration that was in reference to the Missouri game:
“I’ll never forget Kenny McIntosh, injured, hardly practiced that week with a deep thigh bruise, carrying the ball repeatedly, running through people and putting the offense on his shoulders, making plays and doing a hell of a job. Thank you, Kenny.”
He now has a chance to make an impact in the NFL.
