ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs TE Darnell Washington was picked No.No. 93 overall by the Steelers in the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City.
Massive and powerful, Darnell Washington told his teammates to get behind him - he was about to get things going. The No. 1 Dawgs were down at the half on the road at Missouri. Washington’s message to his team: Get behind me - I will get it done.
He did.
30 minutes later Georgia ground out its second-toughest win of the season. The win paved the way to a 15-0 season in Athens. It also showed the type of teammates Washington was for Kirby Smart’s program.
“He’s had a plan since he got here,” Kirby said. “He’s followed that plan. He’s executed it.”
Washington ended his season with 28 catches for 454 yards and two touchdowns. He was a massive help on the line of scrimmage for a Georgia program that prides itself on the ability to run.
With Broderick Jones and Darnell Washington now on the roster, the Pittsburgh Steelers have +650 odds to win the AFC North in 2023 according to FanDuel.
