ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs WR RaRa Thomas, who recently transferred to UGA from Mississippi State, was arrested Monday morning on two charges of battery and false imprisonment charges.

Thomas was booked into the Athens-Clarke County Jail at 4:04 AM Sunday morning. The battery charge is a misdemeanor, while the false imprisonment charge is a felony. Thomas was still in ACC custody as of 7:30 AM Monday morning.

UGA Athletic Association released this statement Monday afternoon:

“We are aware of a reported incident involving conduct by one of our student-athletes. While we are limited in what we can say about the incident, the report is disappointing and not reflective of the high standards we have for our student-athletes on and off the field. In addition to following internal Athletic Association policies, we will be working closely with our administration to ensure we cooperate fully with all law enforcement and campus protocols.”

Thomas led State in receptions in 2022 with 44 catches for 626 yards with seven touchdowns. In his two-year career at State, Thomas has 62 catches for 878 yards with 12 touchdowns. He is one of three transfers into UGA in 2023. Thomas picked Kirby Smart's program over Tennessee, Ole Miss and Auburn among others.
