ATHENS - The Stetson Bennett story has come to an end. His journey in Athens may be over, but his legacy as a Bulldog will live on forever.

That’s what happens when you deliver two national championships to the University of Georgia.

The 2022 Heisman finalist might be the best Georgia Bulldog of all time. He SHOULD be in the college football hall of fame one day.

He’s now a living legend, and a big reason why is because of offensive coordinator, Todd Monken. There’s no doubt that Monken is the best play-caller in Bulldog history. He helped turn Bennett into a star, and he spoke about Bennett’s legacy heading into the national championship game last week.

“Well you'll be hard pressed to find someone that loves the University of Georgia more than Stetson Bennett”, Monken told reporters. I think growing up -- first of all, we all have dreams, all right. We all have, I want to be the head coach here or I want to be a movie star, I want to fly to the moon, I want to be a fireman. Whatever the hell you want to be when you're a kid. And Stetson Bennett wanted to be the quarterback at Georgia.”

At 25 years old, Stetson Bennett achieved his goals. Not only did he play quarterback for the Bulldogs, but as we all know, he led them to two consecutive national championships.

“And that is rare that you get to where, whatever that dream might have been, whatever that would have been”, Monken added. “And I'm too old to remember what that dream would have been, but I know what his was and I think that's awesome.”

Bennett gave some legendary performances that will live on forever. The man beat Alabama on the biggest stage, with a championship trophy on the line. He embarrassed an undefeated Michigan team. Beat the powerful Ohio State Buckeyes. Beat the Gators twice. Never lost to Tennessee. Never lost to Georgia Tech.

The list goes on and on. He had plenty of haters, but Bennett silenced them all.

That’s part of his legacy. Proving the doubters wrong time and time again.

Once just an average Georgia fan. Now, Stetson Bennett is the greatest Bulldog quarterback, and arguably the best player, to ever wear the red and black.

The story has come to an end, at least at the University of Georgia, but it’s a story that Bulldog fans will be talking about forever.

What we all witnessed over the last two years was true greatness. That’s what we saw from Stetson Bennett and his Bulldogs. He was a damn good dawg, and he’s leaving Athens as a champion.

It was the perfect ending for one of the greatest college quarterbacks of all time.
