ATHENS  - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs just can’t miss right now.

After a big first day of the Early Signing Day Period, the Bulldogs dip into the transfer portal and land one of the best receivers in the SEC in former Mississippi State Bulldog, Rara Thomas

One of the top receivers in the transfer portal, Thomas was a go-top option in the passing game for Will Rogers and the Bulldogs last year, catching 44 passes for 626 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He made a lot of plays down the field and was tough to bring down after the catch all season long. A big target and a down-field threat, Thomas should be able to step into Bryan McClendon’s room and push for immediate playing time next season.

The 6-foot-0 200-pounder out of Eufaula, AL chose the Bulldogs over Auburn, Ole Miss, and others.

The Bulldogs will have plenty of depth next season as sources right now say that both Ladd McConkey and Dominick Blaylock will return to Georgia for the 2023 season. Of course, a healthy AD Mitchell will also have a big impact in next year’s offense.

Even in a crowded receiver room, Thomas’ size, experience, and big play potential is needed for Georgia neext season. He has reliable, strong hands and is excellent down the field after the catch. He was Mississippi State’s leading receiver from last year and will likely find his way on the field very early in his first season in Athens.

You also have Brock Bowers in the mix at tight end, so you can expect plenty of passes to come his way as well.

As good as Georgia’s offense has been this year, you could make the case that with Thomas on board, the receiving core could be even more lethal in 2023.
