ATHENS - The Brock Vandagriff experience is over in Athens, Georgia. The UGA Football quarterback has entered the transfer portal.

Actually, it never really started did it?

The former 5-star from down the road at Prince Avenue Christian was one of the top quarterback prospects in the entire 2020 class out of high school and had high hopes of one day leading the Bulldogs to a championship.

After multiple years being buried on the depth chart by Stetson Bennett and Carson Beck, today we learned that Vandagriff has put his name in the transfer portal, giving him a fresh start at another program.

This shouldn’t be surprising, though. At quarterback, you have to be at a place where you can play. Vandagriff wasn’t playing at Georgia because he wasn’t better than Bennett and Carson Beck. The No. 1 trait for any quarterback is accuracy, and sources say Vandagriff just wasn’t throwing the ball consistently accurate in practice.

As a five-star quarterback, his plan was to stay close to home, play for the in-state Georgia Bulldogs, and lead them to a championship. That was the dream scenario for Vandagriff, and now the dream is over.

The impressive gunslinger from nearby Bogart, Georgia was originally committed to play for Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners early in the recruiting process, but flipped to Georgia on January 21, 2020.

An outstanding high school quarterback, Vandagriff was a dual-threat who won the Single-A state championship as a senior. Vandagriff was 252/356. for 4,169 yards and 46 touchdowns. He also ran for 503 yards and 17 more scores, proving why he was one of the nation’s best.

In his career, Vandagriff threw for 10,087 total yards and 107 touchdowns. He also rushed 309 times for 1,896 yards and 49 more touchdowns on the ground.

Vandagriff appeared in eight games for the Bulldogs last year, going 12/18 for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
