ATHENS - ESPN’s Gameday crew thinks the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets could be in for a very long day.

Kirby Smart’s No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs enters Saturday as a 36.5-point favorite to take out the Yellow Jackets. Desmond Howard, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1991, said he thinks the game could get ugly - and quick.

“Now Georgia Tech is about the play the Dawgs,” Howard said. “This one might get real ugly real fast. I would say the Dawgs by halftime will probably be up by three scores.”

The Bulldogs have won the last four games over Georgia Tech played between the two rivals. Tech and UGA didn’t meet in 2020 because of an all-SEC schedule for the Bulldogs.

“The Dawgs have won blowouts in the last four,” ESPN’s Rece Davis said. “(UGA) is coming off a quiet offensive day against Kentucky.”

Georgia beat the Wildcats 16-6 in the cold last weekend on 363 total yards. The game was the coldest game in recent history for the Bulldogs.

Consensus thinking is that the Bulldogs need to win one of their next two games in order to qualify for the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs take on No. 5 LSU seven days from now in the 2022 SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.
