Friday Five: The Five Things You Need to Know For Georgia Bulldogs vs. Georgia Tech

ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs finally gets back to Athens to take on Tech. Here are our five things for Friday you need to know going into the weekend.
1. Georgia Stays Returns Home
Georgia hasn’t played at home much lately, but we get Clean Old Fashioned Hate this weekend Between the Hedges. This is the quintessential look-ahead game for No. 1 Georgia. For Tech - one more win is needed to get to a bowl.
That would be a heck of a turnaround for Tech. The massive 35.5-point line makes that unlikely.
2a. What to watch for (UGA edition)
Georgia has a chance to go 12-0 for the second year in a row. That's a major accomplishment for any program - certainly one playing in the SEC. We've not seen Georgia be undefeated in back-to-back regular seasons in a very, very long time.
Meanwhile the game with LSU (and beyond) looms. The Dawgs are already listed as a significant favorite to beat the Tigers. But LSU has played pretty well at times this season. Then again, they've been pretty bad at times, too - the Tennessee game says hello. Georgia is the betting favorite to win the national title. Not much will change on that front this weekend, we think, but we are about to hit the stretch run of the season.
Winning these two games would set up the "easiest" possible path to winning it all.
2b. What to watch for (non-UGA edition)
It is a big weekend around the country - rivalry week is here. We saw a nutty Egg Bowl Thanksgiving night. We should expect the same sort of stupidity this weekend. Ohio State-Michigan, Notre Dame-USC and Iowa State-TCU are all big games this Saturday. Needless to say Clemson-South Carolina and UGA-Tech are important as well.
After this weekend we will know just what is going on heading into championship weekend. Who will be in position to get into the playoff. Who will need help? What a time...

3. Quote of the week:
“Guys are fired up and understand the importance of the game. We had a really good practice today and a good practice yesterday.” - UGA coach Kirby Smart on his team’s preperations heading into the Tech game.
4. Thursday Night Rundown:
The Egg Bowl delivered again. Lane Kiffin didn't, again. Lane was so prepared Thursday night that he called timeout twice before the Rebels failed to get a mandatory two-point conversion in the closing moments of the game.
Lane didn’t win Thursday night. At least there’s always Twitter. He’s undefeated there - think that’s helping tonight?
Pound for pound this is the best rivalry in college sports - not just college football. These two fanbases might live amongst one another, but they are very different.
Ole Miss under Lane Kiffin has been a lot of chirping, and a lot more losses than you might expect vs. the amount of attention he gets. The Rebels have lost four of their last five games. Only a three-point win at lowly Texas A&M saved them from a full one last-season slide. Arkansas and LSU kicked Ole Miss' ass so bad it would make you wonder what in the world is going on.
The notion of playing in a New Year's Six Bowl was fun while it lasted.
5. Lock of the week
At least it won’t rain. My locks of the week have been more of a disaster than the close of Ole Miss' season. At least we won't have to deal with rain on Saturday. I can't tell you how happy I am that I won't get rained on all game. You should be happy, too. Lock of the week? Maybe next year. Ugh.
