Tallahassee - If you follow Georgia Bulldog recruiting, you know Kirby Smart and his staff are putting together one of the best defensive classes we’ve seen since Kirby’s arrival to Athens.

The Bulldogs still need to find another couple of defensive linemen, but it’s clear they have the best trio of linebackers of any team in the country on the way.

One of their linebacker commitments, high four-star Raylen Wilson, might push for 5-star status when it’s all said and done. The 6-foot-2 215-pounder may not be the biggest linebacker out there, but if you watch his recently released senior highlights, it’s easy to see why he’s an elite linebacker prospect in the 2023 class and a major Bulldog target.

On film, Wilson shows impressive instincts and is rarely out of position. He’s strong and physical, runs like a deer, and shows a great motor. He’s a versatile linebacker who can be moved around a little, but his ability to make plays in the middle of the field is what makes him one of the best in the country. He gets off blocks, he’s a sure-tackler in the open field, and knows how to force turnovers.

As great as he is against the run, he’s also a playmaker in coverage. He’s impressive in single coverage and knows how to get into the passing lanes in zone coverage as well. It’s hard to find a weakness in his game and that’s one of many reasons why he was a major target for Glenn Schumann, someone who can hand-pick his linebackers on the recruiting trail.

As a senior this fall, Wilson has been a tackling machine for Lincoln (FL), making 117 total stops and an impressive 18 TFLs. He’s also made seven sacks and forced one fumble on the season.

Wilson is ranked in the On3 Consensus rankings as the No. 2 LB prospect, the No. 12 prospect in Florida, and the No. 51 overall prospect in the country for the 2023 class.

The Bulldogs have four-star linebackers CJ Allen and Troy Bowles on the commit list as well, and all three have the talent to push for playing time early in Athens.
