NORCROSS - As you know by now, no assistant coach in the country is recruiting and developing thee tight end position better than Georgia’s Todd Hartley.

He’s turned Georgia into “Tight End University” these days and has the best tight end room in the country right now. By a mile.

Hartley has two impact tight ends on board for the 2023 class and he’s attempting to land the No. 1 tight end prospect in the country in 5-star, Duce Robinson‍.

One of Hartley’s commitments, four-star Lawson Luckie‍, had himself a BIG game in round one of the playoffs last weekend. Leading Norcross to a big 37-13 win over Mountain View, Luckie caught nine passes for 140 yards and one touchdown. He was also an impactful blocker on the edge, opening up running lanes all night long for the Norcross backs.

At 6-foot-4 and 225-pounds, Luckie is a physical run blocker who knows how to push defenders backwards. He’s a tough, physical tight end in the run game, but he’s also an outstanding pass-catcher in the passing game. He’s shown soft, reliable hands all season long and knows how to pick up big yards after the catch. He’s a threat in the play-action game, and if left open, he’s going to make a big play. He runs well for his size, and once he picks up some speed, he’s tough to bring down for any defender in the area.

With the season on the line, the Blue Devils knew they had to get Luckie the ball as much as possible. They went his way often, and it certainly worked as Norcross went on to have a comfortable first-round victory.

After a big first-round performance, look for Luckie to see more opportunities to make plays against a tough Milton defense.

So far this season, Luckie has caught 45 passes for 616 yards and 8 touchdowns while adding another rushing touchdown. He’s one of the top pass-catching tight ends in the state, and he’ll only get better playing for Todd Hartley and Todd Monken.

Luckie is ranked in the 247 Composite Rankings as the No. 11 TE prospect, the No, 17 prospect in Georgia, and the No. 196 overall prospect in the 2023 class.
