ATHENS - The Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Vols are gearing up for what should be a colossal fight in Sanford Stadium, and CBS’s Gary Danielson will be on the call for the matchup.

Danielson said he thinks this could be a tight, high-scoring game between the No. 1 and No. 2 offenses in the country.

“Both defenses are going to have to get comfortable with the fact that the other team is going to move the ball, and it’s not likely that you’re going to shut them out,” he said. “You have to continue to believe in yourself even though the other team might be scoring four or five touchdowns against you. This might be a game that’s won 38-35. You have to understand that one stop in the game might be enough for you to win.

Bulletin Board Material

Tuesday’s College Football Playoff rankings showed the Vols at No. 1, Ohio State second with the Dawgs at No. 3 with Clemson following, and then No. 5 Michigan. Danielson thinks that is “great bulletin board material for Georgia.”

“Ohio State has established themselves and you better have a complete team to beat them. They’re so strong,” he said. “With what Michigan did a year ago, it seems like those two teams are on a collision course again this year. And unlike 2006, when they played such a great game but only the Top 2 teams in the country advanced to the National Championship, I think this year – if they have a game very similar to that where they both go into it undefeated – they will both make the playoff.”

Georgia a Touchdown Favorite at Home

As of Friday morning, the Bulldogs are considered an 8-point favorite to win the game. The over/under is set at 66.5.

“Both teams have so many avenues to win this game,” Danielson said. “And that’s what makes them so hard to stop. For both defensive coordinators, it’s really hard to zero in on one thing they must stop. Anything you overload in one area just makes the other team say ‘Let’s not beat our heads against the wall and we’ll go another route,’ and they’re capable of doing that.”

Tennessee and Georgia kick off on CBS at 3:30 Saturday with Danielson and play-by-play man Brad Nessler.
