ATHENS - Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart gave a few updates on the Dawgs’ injury situation heading into the clash with No. 2 Tennessee.

Smart told reporters that LB Nolan Smith was “probably doubtful for this week” - a blow to a Georgia defense that will be going up against the No. 1 offense in the country this Saturday Between the Hedges.

Smith played against the Gators on Saturday, but was in street clothes in the second half of the Dawgs’ contest with a pec injury. Kirby told reporters after the win over the Gators Saturday that DL Jalen Carter felt good during the game.

“He told us he felt good in warmups,” Kirby said of Carter. “We tried not to put him in a pounding situation, but they pound all the time. It was third down, and we knew there was a threat they would run it. I got to watch the tape because I don’t know if he made any plays but his snap volume was huge for (Stackhouse) and (Logue) on first and second down.”

Kirby said Monday that he hope Carter can be “at full speed” this Saturday against the Vols.

“(Carter) played better than I expected. He was in on run; he was in on pass,” Kirby said. “He held the point. It’s really about stamina and him being able to hold up and condition.”

Kirby added that Georiga’s offensive line is dealing injuries. Georgia OL Amarious Mims is said to have “a sight MCL” injury. Kirby said he is hopeful the massive lineman will be able to play against the Vols - pointing out that what happens in practice this week for Mims will likely determine that.

Warren’s (McClendon) shoulder was messing with him,” Kirby said after the win over Florida. “(Xavier) Truss had a toe. He still played he played on field goal and PAT. I don’t know how severe that is.”

Kirby added that the Bulldogs still don’t know if WR AD Mitchell will play this Saturday.

“We got AD some more recovery time this week,” Kirby said. “We haven’t practiced yet so it’s hard to tell.”

Mitchell did not dress for warmups in Jacksonville. RB Kendall Milton was dressed for the game, but did not play according to UGA participation reports.
