ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs remained the No. 1 team in the country after a week off. The Bulldogs head to Jacksonville to play the Florida Gators this weekend.

Save a road fight at Missouri, Georgia has won all its games by not fewer than than 17 points. At 7-0, the Bulldogs’ final five games feature two rivalry games (the Gators and Tech) as well as two road trips at State and Kentucky.

A home date with the Tennessee Vols will likely determine the winner of the SEC East, and could put the victor on the path to the College Football Playoff no matter the result of the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta.

The Vols are the No. 3 team in the country after a landslide win over Tennessee-Martin. UGA had 31 first-place votes in the AP poll this week with Ohio State getting 18. The Vols had 13 first-place votes. Meanwhile, Clemson, which won on the final play of the game for the second time this year, also got a first-place vote.

A pair of top-ten teams lost this week on the road. Ole Miss’ 25-point loss to LSU sent them backwards in the rankings. Oregon’s 45-30 throttling of UCLA moved the Ducks higher, and means the Pac 12 doesn’t have an undefeated team.

Only the Bulldogs, TCU, Clemson, Tennessee, Michigan and Ohio State remain unscathed heading towards Halloween. As mentioned above, the Vols and Dawgs play in two weeks. Meanwhile, Ohio State and Michigan will renew acquaintances with one another on the final weekend of the year.

TCU is not scheduled to face a ranked team the rest of the season. The Horned Frogs’ biggest fight will likely be in the Big 12 title game against either No. 9 Oklahoma State or No. 22 Kansas State. TCU beat both those teams over the last two weeks.

Clemson’s toughest game in the future is likely a home game against suddenly-surging No. 25 South Carolina. The Gamecocks are undefeated since a home blowout loss to Georgia in week three of the season.
