ATHENS - The rich get richer as the 2022 SEC champion Georgia Bulldogs land a massive commitment from another 5-star prospect and one of the top overall defenders in the 2023 class.
That would be elite pass-rusher and EDGE defender, Samuel M'Pemba.
A “freakish” athlete out of IMG Academy (FL) who can really get after the passer, M’Pemba chose to play for Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann over Tennessee, Miami, Florida, among others.
Dawg Post has reported for months now that the Missouri native has been leaning towards Georgia, and today he decided to publicly pull the trigger and “Commit to the G”. He gives Kirby Smart and the rest of the defensive staff another weapon defensively who can not only set the edge in the run game, but get after the quarterback as well.
M’Pemba has been to Athens multiples this year and has seen the Bulldogs play live at least three times so far this season. Now, he’s on the commit list.

What are the Bulldogs getting in M’Pemba?
Length, explosiveness, and an extremely high ceiling.
At 6-foot-4 240-pounds, the elite pass-rusher definitely stands out from a physical standpoint. He has a long, lean frame with plenty of muscle already. He already looks like an SEC defender and will fit in nicely in Georgia’s defensive line room.
Not only does he pass the eye-ball test physically, he does it on the field as well. A former wide receiver, M’Pemba has plenty of athleticism, and as he’s grown and put on weight, it became easy to see that his future was on the EDGE. He’s quick off the snap, has enough speed to get outside of the tackles, and knows how to use his strength to get off blocks. He bends well around the edge, he’s flexible, and his best football is still WAY ahead of him.
He’s naturally talented, he’s put together physically, and he shows 5-star ability on the field. He’s an easy prospect to notice. While he’s still a raw defender, he’s someone who could develop into Georgia’s next star pass-rusher if he continues to work on his craft.
All the raw tools are there, and now it’s up to the Georgia coaches to develop him. That means you should expect a lot from M’Pemba during his time in Athens.
Where do the Bulldogs go now?
M’Pemba now gives Georgia 22 commitments in the 2023 class.
He becomes Georgia’s second EDGE commitment, joining four-star Gabriel Harris.
The Bulldogs are still recruiting another 5-star EDGE in Damon Wilson, and sources say the Bulldogs continue to be in a tight race with Ohio State there. Right now, Dawg Post feels he’s leaning towards the Buckeyes.
M’Pemba is ranked in the 247 Composite Rankings as the No. 4 EDGE defender, the No. 8 prospect in Florida and the No. 30 overall prospect in the country for the 2023 class.
