ATHENS - Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are off to a strong 5-0 start to the season, and they have rival Auburn coming to Athens this weekend for a big SEC matchup at 3:30 on CBS.

With big home games come big recruiting weekends, and the Bulldogs will have plenty of top targets in town to watch the Bulldogs try to win their sixth game in a row over their SEC West rival.

One major target coming to town for an official visit is 5-star EDGE, Damon Wilson‍. One of the top uncommitted defenders in the country, Wilson is an elite pass rusher out of Venice (FL) who was in Athens in early June for an unofficial visit.

At 6-foot-4 230-pounds, Wilson is a dynamic defender who can set the edge in the run game, but his ability to get after the quarterback is why he’s one of the top EDGE defenders across the country. Through his first four games, Wilson has made 33 tackles and three sacks. As a junior last year, Wilson made 90 tackles, 23 TFLs, 15 sacks and 25 QB hurries along with one INT. He’s lean, athletic, and has lived in the backfield throughout his high school career.

As far as his recruitment goes, the Bulldogs have quietly been in the race since his visit back in June, but most sources tell Dawg Post that the Ohio State Buckeyes appear to be the team to beat for the Florida native. Of course, Alabama is another team that has been firmly in the mix throughout his recruitment.

Wilson took his official visit to Alabama from June 17-19 and took his official visit to Ohio State the weekend of September 3rd. Now, it’s Georgia’s time to roll out the red carpet for the elite pass rusher.

The Bulldogs already have one EDGE defender on the commit list in pass-rushing specialist Gabriel Harris‍, a South Georgia native now playing at IMG Academy. Dawg Post has also been told the Bulldogs are the team to beat for 5-star EDGE Samuel M'Pemba‍, who has already seen the Bulldogs play live twice this fall. Don’t be surprised to see M’Pemba back in Athens again this weekend as well.

According to the 247 Composite Rankings, Wilson is ranked as the No. 5 EDGE defender, the No. 8 prospect in Florida and the No. 29 overall prospect in the country.
