ATLANTA - As expected, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs made sure to invite plenty of high-caliber prospects to their game against Oregon this past weekend in Atlanta.

Of course, the staff couldn’t meet in-person with recruits as they were not hosting them on campus, but it’s clear they wanted as many prospects in town as possible.

Smart and his players knew what they were going to do to Oregon on Saturday night and now the rest of the college football world knows the Bulldogs are a legitimate contender for the 2022 national championship.

One high-caliber prospect who took in the game was 4-star DL target, Daevin Hobbs‍.

The big6-foot-4 265-pound EDGE defender out of North Carolina spoke with Dawg Post briefly about what impressed him the most and what he likes about Georgia assistant Tray Scott.

“It was a fun weekend down in ATL”, Hobbs said. “I liked the energy and the environment of the game and how UGA dominated the game the whole time.”

“I like what coach Scott is about as a man and I like the way he coaches on and off the field”, Hobbs added.

The Concord, North Carolina native also told Dawg Post that he plans to take his official visit to Georgia the weekend of November 5th when the Bulldogs host Tennessee. Hobbs was offered by Georgia on July 29th and has quickly climbed towards the top of Tray Scott’s DL board.

Scott has two true DL commitments right now in 4-star defensive tackle Jamaal Jarrett‍ and 3-star defensive tackle Seven Cloud‍, although we don’t see Cloud ending up in Georgia’s class at the moment.

There are still plenty of impressive defensive line targets out there, and Hobbs is certainly one of them. He’s someone Georgia fans should be keeping track of this fall. As a player, Hobbs is extremely athletic for his size who runs like a deer at almost 270-pounds. He plays tight end for Concord (NC) and knows how to make big plays as a defender on the EDGE. He has a chance to move inside at the next level and will bring quickness, athleticism, and toughness to the school of his choosing down the road. It’s easy to see why the Bulldogs offered and were able to land his final official visit in November.

According to the On3 Rankings, Hobbs is ranked as the No. 12 DL prospect and the No. 83 overall prospect in the country.
